¡Hola a todos! Soy Beatriz Alvares, Your Cuban Insider!

¡Hola! My name is Beatriz Alvares, and man, am I excited to be writing for you all! I’m twenty-one, and I live in Cuba, this really beautiful island, you know? Lots of music, always sunny, and the people here are super nice, the best you’ll find. I live close to Varadero, that famous beach with the white sand. It’s way prettier when you see it for real!

I sing and dance, and I work in some of the hotels around here. It’s okay, it’s fun sometimes, but my big dream is to be a star, like, a really big one. Maybe even on Broadway someday! I love to sing all kinds of songs, but what I really feel in my heart is our Cuban music, you know? Salsa, rumba… it’s just how we are. And dancing? I love to move, to feel the music in my body, to tell stories without even talking. You know, Lukas, the guy who offered me this chance to write this blog, he even said he thought I could become a famous dancer one day! That really made me feel like maybe my dreams aren’t so crazy after all.

Cuba is my home, and I love it here. But I also have these big dreams, dreams that take me far away from here. I want to see the world, to show everyone my singing and my dancing. I want to show them how much passion and happiness we Cubans have inside us.

I’m really happy I got this chance to write for you. I hope that when you read my words, you can feel the hot Cuban sun, the beat of our music, and how sweet our people are. I want to show you the best of Cuba, the places you gotta see, the music you gotta hear, the food you gotta taste, and the things you’ll never forget.
